Summary

The wife of the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel has lauded the philanthropic and humanitarian disposition of the wife of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo and President of the Unversity Women Association (UWA), Mrs Rosalyn Essien. The commendation came during the launch and formal unveiling of two NGOs; Amathy Peace Pheromones foundation and Payforphan foundation founded by Mrs Essien on Friday 20th September 2019. Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel particularly extols the ingenuity of Mrs Essien in initiating the two foundations noting that it would go a long way in salvaging the plight of the less privileged and the downtrodden in the society. She also noted that peace is a catalyst for the development of any society and hence, Amathy Peace Pheromones foundation is a well thought out initiative that will help build a peaceful and cohesive society.

Also speaking, the chairman of the event, Hon Justice Godwin Abraham, Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom state congratulated the UWA president per her humane disposition, large heart and for daring to leave a lasting legacy for humanity.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo and Co-founder of the foundations thanked God for the initiative and ability to give back to the society noting that the foundations’ launch was informed by the passion that he and his wife have for humanity, a divine call they have to answer.

The high point of the occasion was the conferment of the champion of peace award on the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr Udom Emmanuel who was ably represented by the first lady and the conferment of the foremost philanthropy award on the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel as well as the induction of the wife of the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel as patron of University Women Association (UWA) by presenting the UWA wrapper to her by the Wife of the Vice Chancellor, UNIUYO.

The event witnessed presentation of scholarship awards to less priviledged students, empowerment of women and physically challenged students as well as keynote lectures by Dr. Essien Akpan Uko of the Faculty of Business Administration and Professor Otoabasi Akpan of the Akwa Ibom state university. Dignitaries present at the event included the Wife of the Governor of Akwa Ibom state Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State Honourable Justice Godwin Abraham, the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Enefiok Essien, SAN, Deputy Speaker of Akwa Ibom State University, the Wife of the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Mrs Felicia Etim, President of LEWA Mrs Itohowo Bassey, the political class, academicians, legal luminaries, the business class, students and the general public.
