Summary

The President University Women Association (UWA) Mrs. Rosalyn Essien, the wife of the Chairman Ibiono Ibom LGA, Mrs. Mercy Ekomabasi Akpan, the wife of Honorable Commissioner Science and Technology and other Ibiono Ibom women went out today to support Her Excellency Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel in her fight against rape and the trauma it causes to the victims. We paid a visit to the Paramount ruler of Ibiono Ibom to inform him of the skyrocketing rape cases and he promised to help support and raise awareness on this reoccurring issue.

The victim is never to blame, the rapist is always at fault. Them and rape apologists who speak in their favor. There is no excuse for rape.

The objectives of the exercise were to

1. Raise awareness
2. Train young ones to realize that they’re are not entitled to another person’s body regardless of where, when or even how the person is dressed
3. Encorage law enforcement officers to do better. They must make sure they take the issue of rape very seriously because it is not a joke
4. Deter rape apologists who apologize for the demonic acts of these rapists because there is no excuse for rape
5. Speak against victim blaming and shaming which must end so rape victims would find it easy to come out with their stories and help us in this fight for humanity
