Mrs. Rosalyn Enefiok Essien
Founder
Mrs. Rosalyn Enefiok Essien is from Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. She was a resident student at Bournville School Birmingham, England in the 1990s, from where she obtained certificates in different aspects of computing. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree (B.A. Hons) in English from University of Uyo. She also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Peace and Conflict Studies and a Masters degree (MA) in Peace and Conflict Studies. She as well holds an MBA on Project Management from Win Institute for Gender Studies (WINGS) in collaboration with the West Africa Institute for Public Administration, Accra, Ghana. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Peace and Conflict Studies, Mrs Essien is a certified Train-the-Trainer specialist for women empowerment, from the Texas Southern University in Collaboration with the America Empowerment Institute, Houston, Texas, United States of America.
She is an Administrator with the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service and a licensed Human Resource Manager. As a Civil Servant, she has served in different Ministries in the state, including Ministries of Education, Agriculture, Housing, labour and productivity, state Universal Basic Education Board, Deputy Governor’s Office and currently with the Local Government Service Commission. She is a product of the Administrative Staff College (ASCON),Topo, Badagry, and has attended training at the centre for management Development (CMD) Lagos.
She was for about five years the Desk Officer for National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in State Universal Basic Education Board. As the desk officer, she was deeply involved in rescuing and rehabilitating victims of child trafficking and child labour. She was the first to mount billboards on child labour and child trafficking in Akwa Ibom State. She campaigned against trafficking in persons and provided information Boards in the 31 Local Government areas of Akwa Ibom State, for sensitization and data collection on child labour and child trafficking.
Mrs. Essien believes in monitoring women and young girls. As the Principal Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Ossomi Peace Contagion Consult, President of Amathy Peace Pheromones Foundation and Payforphan Foundation. She organizes peace talks for women to help them improve themselves and build a better society. Added to these, Mrs. Essien has for over ten years now been strongly involved in HIV/AIDS sensitization programmes.
She is a Dispute Resolution Specialist (DRS) and in this capacity she mediates where there is conflict, to help women build a peaceful and better society. At the Deputy Governor’s Office where she once worked, she was appointed the Productivity Desk Officer due to her punctuality, dedication to work and high productivity. Whilst there, she impacted positively on the lives of civil servants in the state Government House and encouraged them to be law-abiding and productive in service. She was also appointed the Secretary to the state Boundary Committee which was domiciled in the office of the Deputy Governor. This committee mediated and resolved boundary disputes between warring local government areas and communities.
She is the President of University Women Association (UWA) and Matron of the Centre for Gender studies. She is also Matron of the Conference of University Women Organization (CUWO), in these capacities and with the help of the University of Uyo management, she has organized health talks, health checks and keep-fit exercises to motivate, mobilize and energize the women for greater service. She organized a well-attended National Conference of University Women, the first ever in Nigeria. She equally campaigns against drug abuse, gender inequality, child abuse and sensitizes on cancer awareness.
In recognition of her services to better the lot of womanhood in particular and the society in gender, she has received several awards, recognitions and fellowships. These include: the Ambassador for Peace Award from Universal Peace-Builders Association, Member, Peace Hall of Fame, the Humanity Legacy Award from Society for Human Development and Integration in Nigeria, Honorary Fellowship Award from Institute of Information Management Africa, Award of Excellence in Leadership from African Woman in Leadership Organization as Phenomenal Woman of Worth (2018). Excellent Leadership Award from Centre for Gender Studies University of Uyo (2017), Award of Benchmark Excellence in Women Administration from Department of Vocational Education University of Uyo, Ethical Conduct Award from Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO), and the Award of Honour from University of Uyo Students (as Eka Ndito Uniuyo), Distinguished Mother of University of Uyo by Nigerian Association of Psychology Students (NAPS), Icon of Vision and Excellence Award by the Institute of Corporate Administration, Award of Excellence in Leadership by International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists, Mother of Peace and virtue Award by Universal Peace- Builders Association. The African Students Union Parliament (ASUP) also conferred on her the prestigious award of Pan-African Distinguished Leadership Honor as Amazon of Nation Building in Nigeria.
She is author of the book, Conflict Management in the University of Uyo since 1991 and some of her research papers have been published in refereed peer-reviewed and high-impact journals. She has presented many papers at national and international for a some of which are published. As lately as 2017, she presented a paper on “Securitizing Feminisation of Poverty in Nigeria” at the Great Zimbabwean University, Zimbabwe; and another on “International Humanitarian Law and Protection of women in the Nigeria Civil War” at a conference organized by the Centre for Gender Studies, University of Uyo. She has attended both local and international conferences, such as in: United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Metropolitan University in London, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Universities of Nairobi, Kenya, Ghana, Gambia, South Africa and Mauritius.

She is a Christian and happily married to Professor Enefiok Essien, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and the current Vice Chancellor of the federal University of Uyo. Together they have children.
